Indications:
- Setting Chaperon 2000's filter categories to apply only to certain IP addresses changes nothing, and all users are still being filtered.
Versions Affected:
- All version of Chaperon 2000 for ISA
- The layout of the Chaperon 2000> Filter Manager> Filter Maintenance> Users Window does not explain that the Chaperon requires something to always be listed under the 'Users' tab.
Possible Cause:
- The layout of the Chaperon 2000> Filter Manager> Filter Maintenance> Users Window leads to confusion as to how to properly set a category to apply only to certain IP Addresses.
- A 'Reload Filter' has not been initiated since the changes were made.
Solution:
After adding the appropriate IP ranges that you wish for a category to apply to, you must do the following:
- Open Chaperon 2000> Filter Manager> Filter Maintenance and select the Users button for a category.
- Select the 'By IP' tab and enter the IP ranges you wish the filter to apply to.
- Remove 'Everyone' from under the 'By User' tab.
- Add the 'Guest' account (any other unused account will suffice here)
- Apply your changes to any other categories you wish with the 'Copy To' button, and click OK
- Initiate a filter reload.
After initiating the filter reload, watch the system log. When it says the filter load is complete, your changes should be in effect. Status:
Behavior is by design.
