Symptoms: You will see the following error message in the Chaperon 2000 Service Log:
Filter download error. Error(24060) Socket operation timed out.
Possible Causes:
- Your Internet connection is down.
- You have one or more firewalls between the ISA Server and the Internet, which do not allow traffic on TCP port 444.
- The filter server at the CornerPost office is down.
Resolution:
Verify that your Internet connection is functioning properly.
Verify that you have connectivity to the CornerPost filter server by using the following command from a command prompt on the ISA Server:
telnet proxyfilter.cornerpostsw.com 444
If you see the following error message:
Connecting To proxyfilter.cornerpostsw.com...Could not open a connection to host on port 444 : Connect failed
You may have a firewall upstream from your ISA Server which is not allowing connections to TCP port 444. Check with your firewall administrator or your ISP.
If this is your first filter update, and you are running ISA Server 2000 Enterprise Edition in integrated mode, try the filter update again. Chaperon2000 creates a packet filter to allow the filter update to occur, but when running ISA Server 2000 Enterprise Edition, the packet filter may not have had enough time to take effect. ISA Server 2000 Enterprise Edition stores all configuration information in Active Directory, and depending upon your network architecture, it may take several minutes before configuration changes actually take effect.
