SYMPTOMS:
Surrogate Socket will not establish an FTP data connection to a client when the client requests the connection be made on a port outside the normal dynamic port range. The FTP client will be able to log on to the FTP server, but when a data connection is required (such as a get or dir), the client will stop responding. You will see an error similar to the following in the surrogatesocket.log file:
5/20/99,14:58:08,FTP Client Socket Error(24049) Specified address is not available
RESOLUTION:
The 1.2.4 release of Surrogate Socket corrects this problem and will accept client data connections on any port.
NOTE: If you are running a version of Surrogate Socket prior to 1.2.2, please see advisory A0012 for more information.
